The Town of Shandaken Police Department patrols a land area of 119.8 miles, patrolling the Hamlets of Mt. Tremper, Mt. Pleasant, Phoenicia, Chichester, Allaben, Shandaken, Bushnellsville, Big Indian, Oliverea, Pine Hill, and Highmount. The town of Shandaken is geographically situated in the northwest corner of Ulster County in the Catskill Forever Wild State Park and is bounded by the County of Greene to the north, the County of Delaware to the west, the Town of Woodstock to the east, the Town of Denning to the southeast and the Town of Hardenburgh to the southwest. Shandaken has been renowned as a tourist destination since the early 1900ʼs and continues this tradition today albeit on a slightly smaller scale.
